Southern Thailand to Bangkok

27/1/08
We've been camping/deer spotting/monkey chasing in Khao Yai National park for a few days to escape the tuk tuks. Good to be back with babaganoush & falafels.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY SCOTTY!!!!!!!
Change of plans... we will be in Bangkok for two weeks while we wait for our Indian visa to come through. Since it is taking longer than expected we do not have time to go back to Singapore before our flight to Kochi (southern India). Soooo we have a new flight booked to Calcutta on the 29th (central India), leaving from Bangkok. A little more convenient. No back tracking....
PS While I type this Pete is outside getting drunk & explaining "cheers big ears" and "down she goes" to some cool Japanese guys. It sounds very funny from here.

Backtracking Thailand - Malaysia - Singapore to get a cheap flight to India on Jan 24.

WENT TO MYANMAR - see MYANMAR BLOG for missing dates.

FINALLY....BANGKOK: great food...lots of bargains...all crap we don't need of course. Will only send one box of stuff home....will be back in January.

12/12/07
RANONG: Not only Mr Wu but more Hot Springs, great baguettes & markets selling sticky rice & mango...mmm. Loved, loved, loved it...Peter forced me to leave.

11/12/07
PHUKET BEACHES: over-rated compared to Ko Phi Phi. Resorts are very isolated but... Naihan/Yanui, Kamala & Laem Surin Beaches are nice... how do we know??? We hired a motorbike and cruised around all of Phuket today...sooo much fun!

9/12/07
PHUKET TOWN: staying above a dumpling shop. It is worth the 120 baht a night ($4) just for the smells that waft up the stairs....

6/12/07
KO PHI PHI: breathtaking beaches.... but we are paying for it!

5/12/07
KRABI: Happy 80th Birthday to the King. Unfortunately the yellow shirts do not match Kiki's skin tone. Tranquil monastic cells ruined from 30 years of tourism.

4/12/07
HAT CHAO MAI NATIONAL PARK: more beautiful beachside camping.

2/12/07
BOR NAM RAWN HOT SPRINGS: amazingly refreshing. Mngr Pot & his officer were great tour guides taking us back to Trang (see below).

1/12/07
TRANG:
1. Helped celebrate
Porn & Tae's wedding with Mngr Pot.
2. Morning markets rock....lucky we ended up here 3 times.
3. Planted a tree with Trang's Governor to fight global warming, in honour of the King's upcoming 80th Birthday, while eating an endangered species filled with sticky rice, the pitcher plant.
4. Great pink polo shirts, seriously!

27/11/07
TARUTAO NATIONAL PARK pics: crabs, monkeys that eat crabs and more crabs in a beautiful marine park. Boycotted Ko Lipe as not so 'untouched' when several speed boats run tours there several times a day!

26/11/07
PAK BARA: Pete's favourite place for coconut & condensed milk pancakes. Would have stayed longer except for the wildlife filled bathroom at Bara guesthouse and pushy lady from Andrew tours.
